AKB48 wins Japan Record Award with “Flying Get”

AKB48 has become the most unstoppable girl group this year after they nabbed the highly coveted Japan Record Award from the The 53rd Kagayaku! Japan Record Awards“!

On December 29th, the girls won the award for “Flying Get” at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. Seven years after their CD debut, all five singles released this year have sold over one million copies, and now they’ve captured this prestigious award with their 22nd single.

All the members who appeared to receive the award were in tears as Maeda Atsuko commented, “To all the people who have cheered us on, to the staff who have supported us, Akimoto sensei, we are so grateful for everyone.
Thank you so much!

AKB48 was nominated for the title last year, but unfortunately did not win. Takahashi Minami commented, “I’m so glad that we were able to work from this day last year” while Oshima Yuko remarked, “We had a lot of expectations and worries but ‘Flying Get’ is this year’s senbatsu election song. It’s fitting to say that this song belongs to the fans.
We are so thankful for our fans!
