AKB48 forms a band for “GIVE ME FIVE!” + jacket covers

On January 22nd, AKB48 performed their new song, “GIVE ME FIVE!“, for the first time during the encore of their live event, ‘AKB48 Request Hour Set List Best 100 2012‘.
During the event, it was revealed that the idol group formed a band called “Baby Blossom” specifically for the new single.
“Baby Blossom” is a 18-member band comprised of Maeda Atsuko (G), Oshima Yuko (B), Takahashi Minami (G), Kashiwagi Yuki (Dr), Kojima Haruna (Key), and Watanabe Mayu (Key). The other senbatsu members of the single make up the horn, percussion, and choir groups.
Only three members in the band had previous experience with instruments, so over the past 5 months, the girls put in hours of practice time while managing their busy schedules.
Among the members, Minegishi Minami shared that she had put in the most hours of trombone practice. “Being in AKB for a long time, I’ve grown accustomed to many things. It’s been awhile since I’ve faced such a difficult situation. I’m glad I did my best practicing,” she expressed. Meanwhile, Takahashi laughed as she said, “I can’t stop shaking,” and continued, “It made me think that there are no impossibilities when we do our best together.
“GIVE ME FIVE!” is described as an uptempo graduation song with poignant lyrics. It is scheduled to hit stores on February 15th.
