On the chinese official website of AKB48, it's announced
today that producer Akimoto Yasushi will create an AKB48 sister group
based in Shanghai, China titled SNH48.
*Note: Shanghai is pronounced as Shanhai in Japanese
This
will be the 3rd overseas sister group after JKT48 and TPE48, and the
6th overall sister group. Akimoto Yasushi will again be the chief
supervisor of this group. It is currently scheduled to start holding
nationwide auditions by early August this year, and is expected to
complete its 1st 16 members to form Team S by 8th December, which is the 7th anniversary of AKB48.
